"Death and Life are in the Power of the Tongue......." Proverbs 18:21a
One of the things lost in our society today are acceptable words. We find it rather easy to lose control of our tongues and use words that tear down rather than build up. By the way, that only undermines you. Whether it be co-workers, friends, our children or our spouses, we must choose our words carefully. Once words are spoken, they can never be retracted. We tend to take our words lightly, yet they can affect the lives of others greatly. Come to think of it, God takes our words pretty seriously. In fact, He goes as far as saying in Scripture that every word spoken is a testimony for or against us, and He records every word spoken. I find this truth rather sobering. As Christians, we must realize words have consequences. We must also realize that we have the power to bring death or life to a relationship, to the dreams of our children, or even then the dreams of our spouse. Don't kid yourself, your words matter. How do you want to be remembered by God and others..............as a life support or a death chamber?
I couldn't agree more but seeing it in writing really puts things in prespective for me at least. I'm going to have to print this up and hang in on the fridge as a kind reminder to us all to watch our words as it goes hand in hand with think before you speak! Have a great day ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks SIL, you're the best. By the way, I need to here this from time to time. I seem to be a little needy in the comment arena.
