Put Regrets In Their Proper Place

"And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."            Luke 9:62

Not only was Jesus the Savior of the world, he happens to be one of the greatest teachers to ever live.  He was great because he put things at the bottom shelf where everyone could reach.  He used object lessons to make a point.  In this lesson we have a plowman and his worthiness based on his ability to look forward instead of backwards.  No farmer hires a plowman who looks back and that because his rows would not be plowed straight.  The farmer has to much invested in his farm to hire someone who will look back and destroy his field in the process.  In this life unfortunately, we are going to have regrets as we plow through the field of life.  There will always be something we could have done better.  However, looking back to long or to much decreases your effectiveness and greatly increases your chance of wrecking.    Looking back to much is not beneficial unless you do it sporadically to keep from making the same mistakes and to ask for forgiveness from God and othes.  "They who forget history are destined to repeat it."  When I took drivers education in high school, we were taught to look forward the majority of the time and look back every so often to be aware of your surroundings, unfortunately, I've not always taken heed to the advice.  A few years ago, as I was running late to work, decided to speed up to make up time.  As I was driving, I happened to glance back and noticed what looked like a State Trooper.  As I kept my eyes on the supposed trooper, I lost sight of where I was going.  Before I knew it, I was 2 foot from a tractor trailer.  Luckily, I was able to break and go left to avoid a wreck, but that moment taught me a lesson I will never forget.  The more I look back the greater chance I have of wrecking my life.  How are you plowing the field God has given you?  Do you spend most of your time looking back or are you looking forward as does a worthy plowman?  Listen, God has given you your life, yes you've made some blunders but don't waste the rest of your life looking back at those blunders.  Do everyone a favor, a fix what you have before you and forget your regretful past.
