Focus is Key

Wherever you are, be all there. -Jim Elliot

This modern world provides so many new gadgets to help us accomplish more in less time; however, as is sometimes the case, the law of unintended consequences has it place. These new gadgets also provide the means to slow us down. In a world of ipods, satellite TV, the Wii, other countries at our finger tips via the world wide web, and long lost friends on facebook, it is hard to stay focused, yet focus is the key to staying consistent in an area of interest. Most people who are successful in any facet of life will tell you, focus is vital to prospering in your area of interest. If in this life we plan to succeed where we're at, we must learn to focus. A famous NFL quarterback was once asked how he could pull out a win with so many disadvantages. The opposing team had home field advantage, the fans were rowdy, they were down by six points and only had a minute and six seconds on the clock. His answer: I simply focused all my energy on the play at hand and drowned out everything else. I didn't spend time thinking about the opposing teams' fans, the score or the doubts that arose. I simply focused. Jim Elliot, a famous, martyred missionary, put it this way: Wherever you are, be all there. In other words, when you are working on something or with someone, give them your undivided attention.
