For years I read this verse believing that God meant He would just feed the sparrow without any effort on the sparrows part; how convenient on my part. However, after futher study of the sparrow, I've learned otherwise. The sparrow leaves his nest to find food and as God promised, its always there. Maybe it would do us good to first pray and then go out believing that if we labor and turn up the dirt, we will find the worm we're looking for; be it work, a career or just some side work........ it will be there. I will say this, there are times God provides in an unusual way, but that is not the norm. God will never bless a lazy person because he will only squander that which he was given. Yes, God loves him and will give him the minimum to survive, but how sad that he will never realize God's best for his life. If we are not careful, we can all fall into this category.
