Vain is the Help of Man

"Give us help from trouble:  for vain is the help of man.  Through God we shall do valiantly:  for He it is that shall tread down our enemies."  Psalms 108: 12, 13

Have you ever faced circumstances that were beyond your control.......... a deathly ill friend or family member, a broken relationship, job loss, etc.?  If you haven't, you will.  I am not purposefully trying to bring you down but to prepare you for the inevitable.  It is in those times you realize how desperately weak the human race is and how much a belief in God is important.  You will eventually say as the Psalmist said, "for vain is the help of man."  Many people at this point in their lives will do one of three things:  1) live defeated and depressed lives quelled by substance abuse  2) some, unfortunately, commit suicide as a result of the hopelessness they now face  3) others learn to say, "Through God we shall do valiantly." Which one of those will you be when those hard times come?  Will you learn to trust in God during those "out of your control" times? or will you trust in the vain help of man?  Someone once said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results."  When will you and I learn that the human race is inherently limited in its powers.  God is truly our only hope!
