What is Real Beauty?

"Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."       -1Peter 3:3,4

In Today's society, with the standard of beauty so high, it is easy for us who are average to feel insignificant and small.  However, I have good news for us average folks who are believers.  As Christians, we were never intended to take our marching orders from the world or Hollywood.  This society places a high priority on the outward appearance and how unfortunate because that road only leads down a path of endless physical repairs and thousands of dollars spent to keep you "upgraded."  Yes, I used the word upgraded because we treat our bodies like machines these days.  Wrinkles, weight gain, and grays, are the enemy while plastic surgery, gastro bypass surgery, implants and cosmetic surgery become your savior.  My point is this; why would you spend thousands of dollars on something that is naturally dying?  As Christians we are to work on the part of us that will never see corruption and it involves no financial investment.  By the way, as you mature as a person you realize that true beauty is not what you see on the outside but what you see on the inside.  How many people are married to spouses who are blessed outwardly, yet live lonely, abused and angry because outward beauty sometimes indicates inward arrogance.  No friend, a home full of humble means and a sweet spirit is much better than a home full of exotic adornments and beauty but no peace.  Let me say this, I am not against outward beauty but let's keep it in perspective.  God's focus has always been on the inside not the outside.  The inside is who you really are while the outside can easily be a painted facade.   It's time that we as Christians go back to viewing the world and ourselves from a Christian perspective.
