What Are You Worried About?

"Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."                  Philippians 4:6

I absolutely love this verse.  It's one thing when a human being, who is frail like you, tells you not to worry and a totally different thing when the Omnipotent, Almighty God commands you not to worry.  Let me draw for you a human illustration.  If you were in real need and your favorite uncle (you mom's rich brother) put his arm around you and said, "don't worry about a thing."  The next thing to happen would be a total release on your part.  You would feel as though a load was lifted off your back.  Now, why don't we feel that same release when God tell us not to worry?  It's called lack of trust.  God's wealth and omnipotence is unmatched.  In fact, there is no equal anywhere.  Do you know anyone else who can create something out of nothing?  Do you know anyone else who can part the Red Sea?  Do you you know anyone else who can set things in order in the Universe with such perfection that  had He set the sun a little closer, we would have been annihilated.  Had He set the sun a little further, this earth would have been a frozen block of ice.  No friends,  there is no comparison.  And this God (Our God) commands us not to worry.  Because of our human frailty, He knew we would have trouble with this command, so he gave us a formula to deal with our anxieties.  By the way, the phrase "careful for nothing" means not to be anxious.  Well, here's the formula:  (Prayer + Supplication) x  Thanksgiving = PEACE.  Yes, thanksgiving is the multiplier.  If you have children, you know the difference between a grateful and ungrateful child.  If my child ask me for so money and acts like I owe it to him or it's his right, he probably won't fair to well.  However, when they approach me with a thankful heart, things happen.   In fact, it's probable that they will loosen my wallet although not to much.  Of couse, God's not limited like I am.  My friends,  how do you handle your worries?  Do you try to carry something you have no control over or do you hand it to the God of the Universe?
