"It is better to trust in the Lord that to put confidence in man." Psalms 118:8
I remember as a young man running into little problems like a car not starting, the mower having issues, or an important event where I needed a little more money than what I had and my Dad coming to the rescue. As trite as these things may seem, for a young man, those things were important. Because they were important to me, I had to have those issues resolved. I knew one way or another Dad could handle it. This process would reoccur as youngster and in to my upper teens. I would venture to say that there were times where he helped me in my twenties. For a young man to trust his Dad is a very natural thing. In fact, I'll go as far as to say that I believe God intended for young men and ladies to trust their earthly fathers and mothers. It starts at birth where a child is 100% dependent on his parents and it lessens throughout the teenage years,or so you hope if you're a parent. Yet, eventually God intended for his creation to go from trusting in their earthly fathers to trusting in their Heavenly Father. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. 1of 2 things usually happens. 1.) We either continue depending on Dad to bail us out, or 2.) we learn to depend on ourselves. Either solution places man at the center of the answer, annulling the above verse. Please do not misunderstand me; there are things we can and should do for ourselves. However, the time comes when a major storm comes upon us and it is at this time we demonstrate who we are trusting in. Do you look inward, outward or upward? As you face the storms of life today, who will you rely on? Remember, man can and will fail you, but God will never let you down.
