Three Things About the Tongue

"Death and Life are in the power of the tongue...."  Proverbs 18:21

1. Whether we like it or not, are words have consequences.  We've heard the saying, "sticks and stones will break your bones but words will never hurt you."  This saying is as far from the truth as the earth is from the sun.  How many people fail to reach their potential because they are bound by negative words spoken to them in their youth over and over. 
2. Your words can be like poison, slowly killing those who receive it. 
3. If not careful, you can destroy a man's reputation by spreading rumors.  If the rumor has not been verified by you personally, don't spread it.  If the rumor is true but won't help anyone by spreading it, don't spread it.  We've all made mistakes we hope never get spread.  Do unto others as you would have done unto you.
